Arabellas School of Oriental Dancing once again brought its “magic carpets” to life with a spectacular annual show. Led by founder and chief choreographer Olga Derbasova – a true master of her craft who has overcame the challenges of the pandemic and time – the school unveiled a new chapter of mesmerising oriental tales. In June, Arabellas Bellydance School proudly marked its 17th anniversary.
The school’s annual concert was far more than a dance performance; it’s a spellbinding celebration where dancers weave experiences and stories into a shared narrative, much like characters in a fairy tale recounting their adventures. This year, the anticipation was palpable, with all tickets selling out days before the show. Organisers even added extra seating, allowing everyone to immerse themselves in the world of One Thousand and One Nights.
The evening’s programme offered a rich tapestry of performances, guiding the audience through one captivating tale after another. Traditional oriental dances graced the stage alongside innovative interpretations performed by both the school dancers and guest artists. Highlights included an Argentine tango embodying fiery love stories, a Hawaiian hula evoking Sinbad’s seafaring escapades, an exotic Uzbek dance, and the mystical allure of Tribal Fusion – each adding a new layer to the tapestry of oriental legends.
Arabellas Bellydance welcomes women of all ages and skill levels, from complete beginners to experienced dancers. All who wish to be part of this enchanting story are invited to join and write their own chapter in the timeless book of oriental dance.
